The Best Offense is a Great Defense!
The offense seems to get most of the press these days. How many receivers can you spread out in a formation? How fast can you score each time you have the ball? Is your quarterback a duel threat?
Sounds exciting, however, you must build a defense to stop the opponent. If not, no matter how good your offense, you will not have a consistent winning team. For that reason, this week we honor the defensive line. These guys are the first wave to protecting their goal line from the opponent’s offense.
The defensive line must train to react quickly to the offense. What is the formation? Which way are they moving? Who has the ball? While quickly looking for answers they have to simultaneously negate the initial thrust of the offense to allow the linebackers and secondary to perform without hindrance. Not a “glory” position, but fundamental to the team.
In building a wining family we have to build a great defense against the offensive onslaught of today’s culture. Our culture is non-stop in sending conflicting messages to our kids leaving them confused. So how do we protect our kids from culture’s offense? You build a great defense.
Blessed as a member of a winning family team, here is what I have learned: The teachings of Jesus Christ and the revealed nature of God provides the best defense for your children. Ever heard the Bible verse, “These commandments I give to you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
We want to help you build a winning family – a family that will thrive in relationship with God and with each other. Stop by and listen in as discuss our game plan to win.
